LED candle-like shining and flashing IC circuit
[Key Word]
・Useful LED control IC
・Get used to handling breadboards
In previous post, I explanation about how to light LED. Next, I will explain an easy way to make the LED flashing or candle like shining. It can be make useful something. We use a 3-terminal dedicated IC OSC DIC series that controls LEDs. You can easily make a circuit with just this IC, LED and battery. Let’s get started.
・Useful LED control IC
①LED Candle like shining Control IC(OSCDIC6441)
Photo 2 is an IC that adds a candle-like brightness fluctuation. You can create a candle flame-like fluctuation with your favorite LED. Figure 1 is a schematic diagram of the IC data sheet. The pin has three terminals, and connects VDD (connects the + of the battery), LED (connects to the anode of the LED), and Vss (connects the – of the battery to the cathode of the LED). With just that, you can make the LED flasher. There is no need for LED limiting resistors. However, the LED that can be used in this circuit has a current of about 20mA. If you want to illuminate an LED with a larger current than that, insert a resistor and a transistor as shown on the right side of Fig. 1. With 2SC1815, it can passed through up to 150mA.
Figure 2 shows the electrical characteristics and absolute maximum rating. The power supply voltage is 2 to 5.5V, which means that there is no problem if you use 2 or 3 batteries or a USB power supply. Also, the output current seems to be fixed at 25mA.
②LED flashing IC (OS1CDY3A010)
It is an IC for driving LED flashing. It is a product in which only the flashing drive circuit part of the self-flashing LED is made into an IC. This time I chose an IC that flash at 1Hz, but there are several types, 1Hz, 1.5Hz, 2.4Hz, and 6.8Hz. Figure 3 is a schematic diagram of the IC data sheet. This also has three pins, which connect VDD (connect the + of the battery and the anode of the LED), LED (connect to the cathode of the LED), and Vss (connect the – of the battery). With just that, you can make the LED flash. There is no need for LED limiting resistors
